SBPA Scholarship

Each year, the Shawnee Band Parent Association awards scholarships to eligible seniors in the Shawnee Marching Band. Application information will be sent via email to all seniors. (Info is typically sent in January, with an application deadline in March.)

We need your help so we can continue to offer this scholarship to our amazingly talented and dedicated seniors. Here’s how to get involved:


1. Support scholarship fundraising efforts.

The Scholarship Committee also hosts fundraising events throughout the year, including:

  • Shawnee Band car wash
  • Dine & Donates
  • Scholarship donation table at the fall and spring Craft Fairs

2. Join the SBPA Scholarship Committee.

The SBPA Scholarship Committee is made up of a Chairperson along with four parents or guardians of current Freshman, Sophomore, or Junior members of Shawnee Marching Band. (Parents of seniors cannot serve on the Scholarship Committee.)

This role doesn’t take a lot of time but has a huge impact on our seniors. Please reach out to president@shawneebandparents.org if you’re interested in joining the committee.

The Scholarship Committee will:

  • Raise money throughout the year for the Senior Scholarship Fund.
  • Create a scholarship application for eligible seniors.
  • Review the submitted applications and choose the award recipients who will be recognized during the graduation ceremony at the end of the school year.

The scholarship(s) shall be awarded without regard to gender, race, religious affiliation, or
ethnic group. When reviewing the applications, the Scholarship Committee uses a blind review
process, meaning the names are hidden to avoid bias on the part of the committee members.
